Arnab Goswami is an Indian journalist and television news anchor. He is the managing director of News Channel Republic TV, in which he worked closely with Rajeev Chandrasekhar. From 2006 to 2016 Arnab Goswami was a news anchor and an editor-in-chief of Indian news channel Times Now and ET Now. On Times Now, he unveiled The Newshour, a live debate. He also hosted a special television program. On November 1, 2016, Arnab Goswami resigned as Editor-in-Chief of Times Now. His news channel Republic TV was started on May 6, 2017.

Early Life and Family of Arnab Goswami

Arnab Goswami was born in Assamese Brahmin family on 9th October 1973 in Guwahati, Assam. His grandfather Rajani Kanta Goswami was a lawyer, a Congress leader, and a freedom worker. His maternal grandfather, Gauri, was a Communist and leader of opposition in Assam for many years. He was a writer and recipient of Asam Sahitya Sabha Award. Arnab Goswami’s father is Colonel (Retd.) Manoranjan Goswami and his mother name is Suprabha Gain-Goswami. and Arnab Goswami wife name is Samyabrata Ray Goswami /Pipi Goswami.

She is also a journalist.She was born in Kolkata, currently she is one of the producer of Arnab led Republic Network.

Education

As the son of an army officer, he participated in schools in various cities Arnab Goswami has Bachelor’s (Hons.) In Sociology from Hindu College, Delhi University. In 1994, Arnab did Masters of Social Anthropology at St. Oxford University from Antony’s College

In 2000 Arnab Goswami was a Visiting DC Private Fellow in Sidney Sussex College of Cambridge University.

Career in NDTV

Before to joining NDTV in 1995, Arnab Goswami started his career in The Telegraph in Kolkata. Later, he transferred his career to TV news broadcast in 1995 with NDTV 24×7. Where he ignored the daily newspapers and reporting for News Tonight for a program broadcast on DD Metro. Later as a news editor, he was part of NDTV’s team during the transition from programmers to a “24-hour mode” in 1998. He hosted the Newshour show every week in the night. Newshour was the longest running news analysis shown on any channel (1998-2003). As a Senior Editor with NDTV 24 × 7, he was responsible for the entire editorial content of the channel. He hosted a channel top-rated news analysis show Newsnight, which won an award for Asia’s Best News Anchor in the 2004 Asian Television Awards.

Career in Times Now

Since 2006, Arnab Goswami was a news anchor and Editor-in-Chief of the news channel Times Now. Notable personalities like Parvez Musharraf are included in his show. He also organized a special program called ‘Frankly Speaking with Arnab’, in which he interviewed Benazir Bhutto and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan, former head of the Tibetan government in the Foreign Minister Dalai Lama, retired chief of the state, former United States Secretary State Hillary was Clinton. And it was for the first time that he was the first person to take the interview of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There his salary was approx. 1 Crore per year. He also wrote a book on Terrorism called  ‘Combating Terrorism: The Legal Challenge’, On November 1, 2016, Goswami resigned from the post of Editor-in-Chief of Times Now.

Career in Republic TV

Arnab Goswami is the co-founder, Managing Director, and Editor-in-Chief of News Channel Republic TV. Which was launched on May 6, 2017, Within a week of its launch, Republic TV was the top of the BARC charts for the audience among India’s English news channels His show ‘The Debate with Arnab Goswami’ debates political, social and current issues, showing remarkable personalities from diverse fields daily at 9 o’clock and 10 o’clock. It is a special event, Nation Want to Know, in which he has included prominent persons like Yogi Adityanath, Arun Jaitley, Amit Shah, A. R. Rahman and Hrithik Roshan.

Tharoor defamation case

On May 26, 2017, MP Shashi Tharoor filed a defamation case against Arnab in the Delhi High Court regarding the story of Republic TV, The alleged truth behind the death of Shashi’s wife Sunanda Pushkar, where his channel claimed that Tharoor was associated with the death of his wife. On May 29, 2017, the Delhi High Court issued a notice to Arnab and his news channel Republic TV on the plea of Shashi Tharoor’s defamation petition.

Sushant Singh Rajput Case:

Sushant Singh Rajput- A famous Bollywood actor who committed suicide in 2020, Arnab alleged that it is Rhea Chakraborty who is responsible for Sushant’s death and Arnab also started a #Justice for Sushant hashtag on twitter.He alleged that it is Shivsena led Mumbai police is saving Bollywood biggies. After that Kishore Tiwari slapped arnab a legal notice saying the channel were an attempt at “Contempt of the Supreme Court”.
