Christine Insinga is a staff reporter for News 12 Long Island since 2003.

She started as an intern in 2000 and was hired immediately after graduating as a freelance production assistant, associate producer, and assignment editor.

However, she wanted to hit on the roads, meet new folks, tell their tales, and uncover a kernel of fact or 2 along the way. She also spent two semesters in NYIT’s LI News Tonight and then led to WLNY-TV 55 to receive her reporting toes wet.

There, she covered everything from ecological issues into the now nationally recognized,’Day Laborer’ trials of Christopher Slavin and Ryan Wagner, both guys convicted of trying to kill two immigrant workers in Shirley.

Back in 2003, Christine came back into News 12 Long Island where she worked her way from freelancer on nighttime staff reporter.

Having a passion for court and crime coverage, Christine’s regular responsibilities have taken her into the trials of Daniel Pelosi, the inspector convicted of murdering East Hampton millionaire Ted Ammon; Martin Heidgen, the Meadowbrook Parkway’wrong-way motorist;’ and, most recently, the Varsha and Mahender Sabhnani, the millionaire couple convicted of nearly torturing slaves within their Muttontown house.

Award and Achievements:

Insinga is a recipient of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award and an Associated Press Award for her work on the 2009 series “Heroin: Addicted on Long Island.” She was also nominated for a New York Emmy Award in 2010 for Crime Programming- based on her part in the series Taking Back Our Streets- that focused on LI’s gang problem.
