Kevin Maher is the Emmy award-winning Sports Director and weeknight sports anchor at News 12 Long Island.


He is graduated from Bayport-Blue Point High School and also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout as a member of the Boy Scouts of America.


He worked for ten years at WTVH, the CBS Affiliate in Syracuse, New York, where he was Sports Director and anchor. Kevin was also a play-by-play announcer for Time Warner Cable Sports and hosted Syracuse University football and basketball games on WSYR-AM radio. Prior to that, Kevin was a sports reporter at WBNG-TV in Binghamton.

Kevin joined News 12 Long Island in 2010 after sports anchoring jobs in Syracuse and Binghamton. His award-winning coverage of events includes Super Bowls, All-Star Games, the World Series, the Stanley Cup playoffs, and LI Ducks championships.

Maher can also periodically be seen on MSG Networks coverage of the Knicks and Rangers pre-game and post-game shows.

Awards and Achievements:

Kevin has won more than 40 awards for sports reporting from organizations including the NY Press Club, The Long Island Press Club, the Syracuse Press Club, the NYS Associated Press, and the NYS Broadcasters Association. In 2010 he received the Syracuse Press Club’s Professional Standards award.
