Ari Staprans Leff was born on 8 August 1994 in San Francisco, USA. He was drawn towards music from an early age therefore, he started taking piano and viola lessons. Then he mastered playing guitar at the age of 11. Lauv attended Radnor Middle School in Pennsylvania and later joined high school where he was a part of many bands and studied jazz as well. Career
After moving from Wayne to NYU he stepped in the music industry officially by shifting his focus to writing and producing for other artists. He wrote the song “Faking it” for artist Olivia Noelle in 2015. In the year 2016, he also wrote other songs such as “Broken” featuring Adam Lambert for Tritonal, “No Party” for Daniel Skye, “Because of Me” for the Voice fame artist Billy Gilman. Later in 2017 he co-wrote Demi Lovato and Cheat Codes’ head over heels “No Promises”. Further in 2017 he wrote “All My Love” featuring Conor Maynard for Cash Cash, “Boys” for Charle XCX, “Idea of You” for Ary featuring Eric Nam, “Beg” for Jack & Jack and so on. In each and every song that he has written he has shown his incredible talent as a professional writer.
Shortly after in 2015 as a result of a breakup Lauv co-wrote a beautiful song titled “The Other”. The song was special to him so he didn’t sell kit to any other artist instead he sang it himself and quickly became popular on blog aggregator Hype Machine. This was one of the turning points of his career as by the help of this song labels and publishers were reaching out to him rather than being the other way around. Moreover, he also signed with Prescription Songs before the senior year of his college. He even released his debut EP titled Lost in the Light which included “The Other”.

Lauv owns a loft in Los Angeles, USA. He adopted his stage name “Lauv” that means Lion in Latin which is dedicated to his mother’s heritage and also his first name: “Ari” means lion in Hebrew. Lauv plays piano, guitar, viola. He claims to write his first break-up song “Parting ways” when he was 13 though he had never been in a relationship. The first real job of Lauv was a host in a Mexican restaurant in New York City. One of the most sentimental items he owns is a necklace that he brought in New York. Moreover, he aspires to work with his biggest musical inspiration Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
